About

Melissa is passionate about helping students become confident readers and believes every child can succeed with the right support and encouragement. One of her greatest joys is seeing the excitement on a student's face when they realize, "I can read!" - moments that continually remind her why she loves teaching.

She values the strong family partnership model at Colearn Academy and appreciates the flexibility it provides students and families. She also loves being part of a supportive school community where teachers and leadership truly care about students and consistently go above and beyond to help every child succeed. The family-centered atmosphere and commitment to student growth are what make teaching at Colearn especially meaningful to her.

Role

Mrs. Cigelske is dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and characteristics of dyslexia through individualized intervention and family partnership. She conducts dyslexia screenings, provides targeted 1:1 support for students diagnosed with or suspected of having dyslexia, and works closely with families to help students build confidence and literacy skills. In addition, she equips parents with practical strategies, resources, and guidance to support their child's reading and learning success at home.
