Role

As a Middle School ELA and History Teacher, Amanda Mason creates an engaging and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, explore ideas, and experience those meaningful “aha” moments when learning clicks into place. She partners closely with families to support student growth through clear communication, personalized instruction, and a focus on both academic and personal development.

Her responsibilities include planning and delivering standards-based instruction in English Language Arts and History, fostering strong relationships with students and families, supporting academic progress through feedback and assessment, and creating a classroom culture where students feel confident, seen, and capable of success. Amanda is passionate about helping students make meaningful connections to content while building their confidence as learners.

Amanda Mason values the powerful moment when students experience that “aha” breakthrough—when confusion turns into understanding and everything begins to make sense. Those moments are what she loves most about teaching and what continually reminds her of the impact educators can have on student growth.

As she joins Colearn Academy, Amanda is excited to explore virtual teaching and learning in a new environment compared to traditional classroom settings. She welcomes the opportunity to grow professionally while embracing a flexible model that supports both her teaching practice and her personal life.

Amanda’s journey into education began as a career change inspired by her nonprofit work with youth and families. Through that experience, she saw firsthand how consistent support and access to meaningful education can transform a child’s life. She felt called to be part of that impact every day by creating a classroom where students feel supported, capable, and valued.

A fun fact about Amanda is that she has a habit of turning small ideas into fully themed experiences—often evolving simple plans into complete events with playlists, decorations, and thoughtful details that bring learning to life.
