Could There be a Possible Ceasefire from Russia? Can Trump Cut a Deal?

U.S President Donald J. Trump met with Russia’s President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, on August 15th to discuss a possible ceasefire from Russia towards Ukraine. Russia has had conflict with Ukraine for over 10 years, however it developed into a full scale invasion in February of 2022. Trump and Putin convened in Alaska to negotiate a possible suspension of hostilities.

The question we should all be asking ourselves; Can a U.S President really control other countries' leaders and their political decisions? The answer? Not really, the U.S does have a lot of influence over other countries' decisions in war, mainly because of America's political involvement and military power, however, other nations' leaders have complete control over their own military and government.

Is it important for other countries to form an alliance with America? Yes, most countries form alliances with America because it is strategically advantageous. It provides many things like better security, economy, and the country's influence.  However it depends on the nature of the alliance.

In conclusion, America does not have direct control over Russia or any other nation's political decisions, but it does have a large influence over them because of America's strength and size, as well as being an ally with many other countries. As Putin and Trump work towards an agreement, there could be a possible ceasefire.
