Yes! Colearn Academy is a public charter school authorized by Arizona State Board for Charter Schools. Students enrolled at Colearn Academy are public school students.
No. Parents do not need to complete a homeschool affidavit for your local district. While you are educating your student at home, students enrolled in Colearn Academy are public school students.
Yes. All students enrolled in Colearn Academy are required to take state assessments required by Arizona Department of Education. We work closely with families to ensure the testing environment is not stressful for students and aim to have locations all over the state to make it easily accessible for families.
Enrichment funds can be used to enhance your child’s learning at home. Eligible expenses include extracurricular activities, music lessons, art supplies, books, science lab kits, co-op fees, and more — all to support and enrich your home education experience.
If you wish to enroll your student in Colearn Academy while receiving ESA funds, you must register as a privately paying student. Parents/guardians will be asked to submit a quarterly invoice to Classwallet to pay tuition to Colearn Academy. Students enrolled in Colearn Academy with ESA funds do not receive enrichment funds.
Most definitely! We have an outstanding Special Education team that works closely with parents, teachers, and students to ensure students are receiving the support and accommodations they need to be successful in their learning environment at home. We are able to provide SDI minutes, speech services, occupational therapy, and more all virtually. We also have a school psychologist to help evaluate students as needed or for their 3-year reviews.
When enrolling a student as a charter student, it is 100% tuition free and students in Arizona receive enrichment funds (up to $2100/year) to support their learning at home. Students enrolling with ESA, must pay quarterly tuition through classwallet and do not receive enrichment funds.
While both charter and ESA students with an IEP receive accommodations and modifications for their IEP, our special education team does not provide services to ESA students. Only charter students receive SDI, speech, OT, and evaluations from our school psychologist. ESA students do not have annual IEP meetings as an IEP is a document for public schools only.
