Role
Melissa Cigelske serves as a Dyslexia Specialist at Colearn Academy, where she supports students in developing the literacy skills and confidence they need to become successful readers. She is passionate about providing individualized support that helps students overcome challenges, discover their strengths, and experience the joy of learning.
She works closely with students, families, and educators to implement effective literacy strategies and create learning experiences that meet each student’s unique needs. Melissa is committed to helping students build the skills and confidence to become independent learners while partnering with families throughout their educational journey.

Melissa is passionate about the flexibility Colearn Academy provides for students and families, as well as the strong sense of community among teachers. She loves helping students discover the excitement of reading and finds it incredibly rewarding when a student reaches a milestone and proudly says, “I can read!” Those moments of confidence and excitement are what remind her why she teaches.
She appreciates the supportive culture at Colearn Academy, where leadership and teachers genuinely care about students and consistently go above and beyond to help every learner succeed. Melissa values being part of a school community that feels like a family and is united in its commitment to student growth.
A fun fact about Melissa is that she is cousins with Taboo from the band Black Eyed Peas.
