Yes! Colearn Academy is a public charter school authorized by Limestone Charter Association. Students enrolled at Colearn Academy are public school students.
No. Parents do not need to register their students under Option 1, 2, or 3 in South Carolina. While you are educating your student at home, students enrolled in Colearn Academy are public school students.
Yes. All students enrolled in Colearn Academy are required to take state assessments required by South Carolina Department of Education. We work closely with families to ensure the testing environment is not stressful for students and aim to have locations all over the state to make it easily accessible for families.
Enrichment funds can be used to enhance your child’s learning at home. Eligible expenses include extracurricular activities, music lessons, art supplies, books, science lab kits, co-op fees, and more — all to support and enrich your home education experience.
Most definitely! We have an outstanding Special Education team that works closely with parents, teachers, and students to ensure students are receiving the support and accommodations they need to be successful in their learning environment at home. We are able to provide SDI minutes, speech services, occupational therapy, and more all virtually. We also have a school psychologist to help evaluate students as needed or for their 3-year reviews.
We only hire teachers that are fully certified in the state of South Carolina. Since we believe in building community and supporting our families, we try hard to only employ staff that reside within South Carolina. This allows our staff to fully participate in field trips and community events with our families.
