Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site

Join Colearn Academy families for a field trip to Charles Towne Landing, the historic site known as the Birthplace of South Carolina. Students will explore the historic grounds where the first English settlers arrived in 1670, and discover how English colonists, Barbadians and Native Americans all played a role in creating Carolina.
Highlights include:
• Animal Forest Zoo featuring animals such as buffalo, elk, black bears, pumas, and other Lowcountry wildlife • Walking the historic settlement trails • The Education Center with interactive exhibits • The replica 17th-century trading ship Adventure (currently closed for maintenance through April)• Scenic trails and historic gardens
This will be a self-guided visit, allowing families to explore the park at their own pace.
The park provides educational QR code videos and self-guided activities throughout the site.

From iconic monuments to the heart of our Nation’s Capitol, learning will happen where history continues to unfold. We are thrilled to bring our Arizona and South Carolina communities together for this meaningful and memory-making educational experience.
