Role

Kate Dusenbury serves as an Interventionist at Colearn Academy, where she supports students in building academic skills, confidence, and a love for learning. She is passionate about helping students recognize their potential and celebrating the moments when they discover they are capable of overcoming challenges.

She works closely with students and families to provide individualized support that meets learners where they are and helps them continue to grow. Kate is committed to creating positive learning experiences where students feel encouraged, supported, and empowered to do their best.

About

Kate is passionate about watching students experience those special moments when learning clicks and they realize they can do hard things. She loves helping students build confidence, develop a love for learning, and believe in themselves.

She is excited to join Colearn Academy because of the opportunity to support students from across South Carolina and be part of a community that values individualized learning and student success.

Kate was inspired to become a teacher by her first-grade teacher, Ms. Spaulding, who made learning feel magical. She remembers how her teacher cared deeply for every student while also encouraging them to reach their full potential. That example shaped Kate’s own approach to education and her desire to make students feel valued, capable, and supported.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys staying connected to her love of soccer. She played competitively growing up and once had the opportunity to meet her childhood idol and soccer legend, Mia Hamm.
